Creating biodegradable glass urns. The idea came from the need to face overpopulation and consequent issues in cemeteries. This project can solve the problem from both an aesthetic and ecological point of view.
The Swedish company Målerås Crystal, with more than 120 years of experience in the production of fine crystal/glass objects, innovates the industry with its biodegradable glass that, once placed in the ground, can decompose.
The designers worked to transform glass into a "non-durable enamel". The patent is based on the physical principle of natural erosion and the result is a material suitable for the production of urns. Acceleration tests on the degradation process have shown that in the environment where the urn is placed, total decomposition occurs without leaving any residue in 15 years.
A project that required research and dedication to ensure that it complied with the strict regulations while maintaining intact the characteristics of the material.
Innovative urns that will revolutionize the industry!
