Bees are considered environmental sentinels thanks to their high sensitivity to ecosystem changes and their ability to collect real?time information on the quality of the surrounding environment.
Two hives were installed near the Domodossola (VB) crematorium, and the results of the honey analyses were compared with those obtained in a woodland area subject to lower anthropogenic pressure. The analyses, carried out by a certified laboratory, did not show any significant differences between the samples.
The results confirm the absence of detectable environmental impacts from cremation activities and demonstrate how the Bee Cool project represents an innovative, scientific, and transparent tool for environmental communication in the cremation sector.
